So if you see a net loss, that's generally not a good thing, right? We want to be making money, not losing money. Right? We're always gonna have some positive assets only Net income can be a negative number. We can't have negative average total assets. Right? Because we can't have negative sales sales is always a positive number. So when can we get a negative are away? Well that's the same thing when we have a negative a net loss. That's why we talk profitability and um and efficiency above. First increase our profit margin, our profitability or we can increase our total asset turnover. So our multiplication will be a bigger number. Is going to go up because this first multiplication is going to be a bigger number or we can increase our total asset turnover, right? Because the second number is going to be a bigger number. First we can increase our profit margin right? By increasing our profit margin. Now we have two ways to increase our our away. It tells us how we can increase our our away. So why don't we just calculate our return on assets straight up? Why do we need to go through these extra steps? We'll notice what it does tell us. So that's why this equals our return on assets. So what's left net income in the numerator, average total assets in the denominator. Well look, when we do this multiplication, we've got net income divided by net sales and the net sales is in the numerator, net sales in the denominator? We'll remember from algebra when something is in the numerator and the denominator, they cancel out. Okay, So what does this tell us? Right, well, before we get into the last thing here, notice why this equals each other, right? Net income over average total assets. So the total asset turnover turnover tells us how many dollars of sales we earn per dollar of total assets owned. And how do we turn those assets into sales? Right. So we gotta we gotta maintain a level of assets for business to function properly. Well that tells us for each dollar of assets, right? For each dollar of the denominator, how much of the numerator we get. Right? So the profit margin tells us how much at the end of the day we keep for each dollar we sell and then the second one total asset turnover. So we when we sell something to a customer we'll we gotta pay for it cost a good sold operating expenses, interest, all the things we pay for. That's our top of the income statement and net income, that's the bottom of the income statement. It tells us how much net income we get for each dollar of sales, right? How much of the numerator per one of the denominator? So how much net income per dollar of sales. So our profit margin is this first ratio net income divided by net sales? That's tells us so look below the profit margin. And when we multiply them together, it gives us a return on assets. So those are two other ratios that we learn about. Is going to be equal to the profit margin, times the total asset turnover. Well we're gonna break it up into two ratios. Net income divided by average total assets. So when we first discussed our way, that's how we learned it. Remember that are away? We learned it as net income over average total assets. So this gives us a little more information of how we derive our our away and how we decompose it. If not you're gonna learn about them here. You might have learned about these already. We learned about profitability and we learn about efficiency with this ratio and we'll see why once we decompose it a little better so we can break up the R. Well we learned about two things with it. Remember our away it measures the income a company gets company earns based on the amount of assets it maintains. So we've learned about the return on assets before now, we're gonna decompose that ratio a little bit and get better information.

Srirangam is a very large temple with huge land holdings extending on its four sides. In the famous temple Srirangam he was initiated into the mantra by his teacher. Until the arrival of Ramanuja, it was used only by persons who had been initiated into the mantra, and this initiation always took place from the mouth of the teacher to the ear of the disciple. Sri Ramanuja was the teacher who introduced this mantra to the masses of Kali Yuga. Source:, “OM Namo Narayanaya”, Dr.K.Parvathi Kumar, Edition Kulapati, Welmelskirchen, Germany 2014 We are not subserviant to our lower self, we only belog to God. This is really nice, because that means that our soul doesn’t belong to our emotions, to our limited mind, to our body, to our desires, or to our karma, or to this world, but is ever free, it belongs only to God. So OM itself means the Atma belongs only to God, only to Lakshmi Narayana. And M comes from the Sanskrit word „Mah“, which means „mine“. M – stands for the Atma, because M is the 25th letter in the Sanskrit alphabet, and the 25th tattwa of creation (which means essence) is the Soul. U – means „only“ or it means Maha Lakshmi, because where Narayana is, Maha Lakshmi is also there. In our Sri Sampradaya, which is our Vaishnava tradition, the OM in Om Namo Narayanaya means:Ī – stands for Narayana, Maha Vishnu, because A is the first letter also in the Sanskrit alphabet, and as Jesus says that „I am the Alpha and the Omega, I am the first and the last“, so as A is first, Narayana is first, He is the first cause of everything. Keep in mind here that the Snaskrit OM sign is literally translated as AUM, however the pronunciation is OM. Silcence – Turya, the supreme Conciousness, beyond the Gunas. In the Vedas it is explaned like this: A-Brahma (rajas), U – Vishnu (sattvas), M – Shiva (tamas). OM itself is the primordial Consciousness, it’s Lakshmi Narayana, it’s Shiva Shakti, it’s the Oneness, and because it’s Oneness, each tradition can have its own interpretation. When you saw Wilde's play, he (Sir Robert Chiltern, played by Jeremy Northam) would be an absolutely identifiable character. "In the 19th century, there was a lot of romantic drama, rather like romantic comedy now," he said. Rupert Everett, who plays Lord Arthur Goring, the Wilde personal in the play and film, said that Parker's successful balancing act was necessary given today's audiences. How much do you adapt? How much do you use of the play, and how much do you invent? How much comedy, and how much drama? The whole thing all the way through the writing and the shooting was nudging tone control." So you sort of have a foot in both camps, stylized and naturalistic. "As long as you could build a world in which these characters existed in a more naturalistic fashion, give them a bit firmer emotional base, then the language becomes a delight. And the language was interesting: I thought 'Is it the thing that is weighing us down or will this make it rise to the surface?' Though I was obviously hooked by the contemporary quality to it. "I went to see the play, and I didn't think it was a very good idea, actually," he said. Parker knew when he was asked by the producers of "An Ideal Husband" to consider making it as a film that he would have to adapt Wilde's stylized, epigrammatic British society comedy to make it palatable and relevant to modern audiences, especially American ones. The Peter Finch film was interesting in many ways." "He said that he merely put his talent into his work and his genius into his life, but they mix so much that you really get his life and personality through his work. "Stephen Fry is extraordinary in embodying so many of Wilde's own qualities, but I kept wanting to see more of his work when I saw that film. "I think you can get an honest film, but it's a question of whether you can get a complete one," the director said. Parker said none of the films does full justice to Wilde's genius. Earlier films are 1959's "Oscar Wilde" staring Robert Morley and 1960's "The Trials of Oscar Wilde" with Peter Finch in the title role. Most recent is 1996's "Wilde," directed by Brian Gilbert and starring remarkable British actor Stephen Fry. When he was released in 1897, he was divorced, bankrupt and physically broken. He was sentenced to two years hard labor in prison. Wilde did, and, given the truth of the assertion, lost. Furious that his son was openly engaged in a homosexual relationship with Wilde, Queensberry left a card with a porter at Wilde's club reading "To Oscar Wilde, posing Somdomite (sic)."īosie hated his father and urged Wilde to sue him for libel. He married, had children and then fell deeply in love with Lord Alfred "Bosie" Douglas, whose father was the Marquess of Queensberry, of boxing rules fame. Art for art's sake was the movement's credo. Oscar Fingall O'Flahertie Wills Wilde attended Trinity College and then Magdalen College, Oxford, where he became part of the Aestheticism movement, devoted to the idea that from beauty all other principles, especially moral ones, are derived, and that artists have no other obligation but to strive for beauty in their works. He was born in 1854 in Dublin to a mother who was a nationalist literary figure and an eye-surgeon father. What he went through in his life was unbelievable, and he managed to maintain his dignity, his wit and his integrity." "That's what's so remarkable about Oscar Wilde as a writer and as a human being. The important thing is to be tolerant and not to judge. "Basically, the movie is saying there is no ideal, there is no perfection," Moore said. Its shaded answers to complex questions make it not only entertaining but also enlightening. The film is a bouquet to the work of a man who said "I have put my genius into my life all I have put into my works is my talent." Those merely talented works include a novel, "The Picture of Dorian Gray" such celebrated plays as "Lady Windemere's Fan," "The Importance of Being Earnest" and "Salome" and volumes of poems, essays and witty epigrams.įull of paradox and seriousness shot through with Wildean wit, "An Ideal Husband" explores the very timely question of the importance of character in politicians and of honesty in personal relationships. Parker's adaptation of Wilde's play is a charming romantic comedy visually defined by a hothouse of colorful 19th century costumes and verbally defined by Wilde flowers of wit. AFTER a broken life ended in infamy in 1900 at the age of 46, could Wilde win an Oscar in 1999?Ĭould be, now that 19th century playwright and bon vivant Oscar Wilde has been taken up and shaken up a bit in "An Ideal Husband." This Oliver Parker film stars Rupert Everett as the Wilde card as well as fellow British talents Cate Blanchett, Minnie Driver, Jeremy Northam and American actress Julianne Moore.
